In England the weather has suddenly turned very cold and the nights are getting much earlier and much darker. There is a rise in the number of people reporting depression and generally the mood become slower and energy levels subdued. Aromatherapy and essential oils can help.
英国的天气骤然变冷,夜晚来得更早,也更黑。越来越多的人感到沮丧,情绪低落,能量水平也随之下降。芳香疗法和精油能够帮助我们解决这类问题。
My autumn recommendation is to choose stimulating oils in particular citrus oils. All Citrus oils act as a physical stimulant and when the substance enters the blood stream (by breathing in the molecules or absorbing them through the skin) they can act in a similar way to caffeine. Recent clinical trials in Europe found that key board mistakes were reduced by up to 54% when lemon was dispersed in a room.
In practice I find I achieve better results with Lime as I feel people’s noses have been “spoilt” for lemon because of the predominance of synthetic scents and flavours in everything from cleaning products to foodstuffs. With individuals who are mentally or physically “fragile” I prefer to use the softer and quite exquisite Green Mandarin. However, be careful, citrus oils can (very rarely) cause a skin reaction when used in the bath. Add only one drop the first time or consider dispersing the oil in a tablespoonful of milk before adding it to the water. If breast-feeding or in the presence of lively children choose Bergamot instead or add one drop of Frankincense to prevent potential hyperactivity.
